What is a CCLS?

Certification prepares a person to take the exam to become a board-certified IBCLC, but it also offers its own certification as a CCLS, even if the student does not want to pursue the IBCLC credential. Upon completion of the CCLS course, you will:

  • Complete a top-quality professional training program focused on lactation and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate competency regarding core relevant lactation knowledge.

CCLS Certification Requirements

  • Complete the 95-hour training course, focused on lactation and communication skills.
  • Review and study all lessons and turn in assignments.
  • Pass quizzes to reflect knowledge and understanding.
  • Agree to abide by the CCLS Scope of Practice.
  • Complete a final evaluation.

Recertification CCLS Requirements

To maintain your CCLS credential, you may choose any of these options below within five years of your initial certification and subsequent recertification dates:

  1. Retake the CCLS course.
  2. Earn 35 L- and/or E-CERPs, and pay fee of $125 (include your proof of certs completed).
